October Release

All right its October 2021 I cant believe it time keeps moving too fast.

I had made it a mission to get the game out by this month and I'm glad to say I have a build that I am pretty proud of. I am always coming up with new ideas. I will always want to add new things and will be looking for ways to improve the game play. I hope people play it and find it fun and challenging. There has been a bunch of progress made through out the year. I'll recap everything here. The first iteration of the game was built for a game jam back in January. These assets were made by a friend of mine who I met in college and he is very talented. He created the PC model, The shelves, the desk, the cart, the VCR, the VHS tape and just about everything. I did end up filling in some of the gaps with the aesthetic and minor models from the Unity store. But the main models and game objects are hand made.

The inspiration behind this game stems from any things. For one I use to work retail and I use to close the shop and have to count the drawer and do all of that and sometimes people would come a knocking. I was never in any danger and I would always help them because every sale is important. But It got me to thinking how creepy it could get to be in a place after dark. And sometimes you may have to count the cash in the dark so people don't come a knocking...

But also though I always wanted to make a horror game and I had always been so encaptivated by 5 Nights

The game play evolved a lot. The basic idea Spoiler alert I suppose

If you haven't played well here's the ideas of the game play. But basically the idea is that you have to rewind tapes and hide from the visitors. At first that was all and it was always at random. The level would turn and add more tapes but that was it. I needed to create more of a challenge for the player and I needed to make the visitor more dynamic and threatening. So I added a new visitor known as the dumpster visitor and it would rummage through the dumpster and the player flicks the light to scare it away. Then there is the inside visitor who is inside after the player is seen once and will get the player after a while being in there. Once those were implemented I wanted even more challenge for the player or more like I need to delay the player longer so they dont get to leave the level so easily. I added a printer where the player has to hold down the button to print the zout receipt and then also the act of adding it and a cash bag to a safe. However I really wanted to include the act of counting cash with out having to actually have the player count the bills so after the 3rd night the player will have get the cash out of the drawer and that is suppose to be tedious having to take out one bill at a time. I adjusted the visitors to appear less often than before. Constant threat isn't scary its annoying. So having less interaction and more suspense is important especially in the beginning.
